The Sunny Banana, is a play upon the Zulu greeting, Sanibonani, meaning I see you.
As tech wrenches us from real life, we are not seeing each other. The Greek word 'idea' means to see. It is as if we have lost the idea of what it means to be human; social, communal, relational. The same word, to see, in Old English is 'seon' which has connotations of understanding.
Let's start seeing each other again, listening, respecting, and understanding each other and ourselves. After all, we are people through other people.

Speaker 1:Now, a long, long time ago, there was a little girl in a village, and she looked around her village and was very confused. She saw people, well, not even looking at each other. They seemed to have something other to look at. In fact, they were looking down at this something, not even looking at each other. And people would go around. Well, there would be the odd hi there, nice, to see you. She'd also look around and see people in groups that looked like other people. It seemed like the people only stayed in the groups that they liked, and then things started to get a bit strange and weird. It felt like no one knew anyone. Everyone was in their own world, and she didn't like this.
Speaker 1:And so one day, as little girls do, she left her village to find something more. In fact, she was looking for the truth. She wanted to find the truth, so she wandered, and she wandered through the hills of finding out, through the forest of discovery, in the desert of exploration. She wandered in pursuit of the truth and one day she came across a piece of wood on the floor and she lifted this piece of wood and underneath the wood she found you are loved, the words inscribed you are loved, on this piece of wood. And she looked at this wood and she said I think my village needs to know about this. So she ran back all the way and showed the elders show all, everyone in the village, look at this piece of wood, look what it says you are loved. And the elders looked at this piece of wood and said you are loved, we are loved. What? What does this mean? But it feels right, it sounds right. Let's put this up in the biggest tower and keep it safe from anyone else, because this is ours. So they did so. They put it above in a tower and locked it away and said this is ours, you are loved.
Speaker 1:And people started fighting. People started fighting for this truth as they thought you are loved, I am loved, you are loved, no, I am loved. And they fought. And they fought to try get this truth. And again the girl, tears strolling out of her eyes, left the village, again in pursuit of the truth, because she knew this wasn't the whole truth.
Speaker 1:She found on her next journey, a, a wise old turtle. Now I'm talking about an ancient turtle, a Narnian Lord of the Rings type turtle, a powerful turtle, a turtle that knew things of the heart, and she said what is happening, and she told the whole story of what's happened with the piece of wood and her village of people not knowing each other but now thinking that they are the only ones that are loved and they are fighting and they are fighting. And the turtle told her this very short story. She said my lovely little girl, the truth is broken, my lovely little girl, the truth is broken. The truth was one, but it exploded in the heavens and one piece of the truth fell in one part of the earth and another piece of the truth fell in the other part of the earth. You need to find the other half of the truth so you can connect it with the old truth, and it can be one. The truth is broken. My girl Go search for more truth.
Speaker 1:And so she did, and she searched, and she searched and she searched and she searched and she searched and she searched, and she searched and she searched, and in her path she found another piece of wood, just like the other piece of wood, and this intrigued her. She couldn't help herself to pick it up, turn it around and read the words. And she read the words and her heart sang with joy. Her heart jumped with joy and she had spring in her step. Now she had energy and she ran back to the village that she came from and she said you know what? I'm not going to show anyone this. I'm going to go up to the tower and I'm going to connect the truth again. So she did, and when she got to the truth, the half truth that was up in the tower, she connected the two. And the sentence read are loved, and so are they. You are loved, and so are they. You are loved, and so are they. And people began to heal again and the whole truth, the complete truth, was back.
